Background
Yzak Joule is a second-generation genetically modified human being called a Coordinator, born to Ezalia Joule, the Supreme Council member hailing from Martius City. At the age of 15, Yzak graduated second in his class from the ZAFT military academy as an elite redcoat soldier. He served in the First Bloody Valentine war, piloting the stolen mobile suit GAT-X102 Duel Gundam, defending his space colony home the PLANTs from the Earth Alliance and Blue Cosmos/LOGOS on Earth. After learning of the Chairman of the Supreme Council's evil intentions to obliterate earth, Yzak defects and joins his fellow teammates in fighting against ZAFT's weapon of mass destruction. He is promoted to a whitecoat commander at the end of the war and given his own team to command, including his best friend Dearka Elsman and trusted comrade Shiho Hahnenfuss. His mother having been arrested for supporting the chairman, Yzak briefly takes his mother's place on the council.

Two years later, before the Second Bloody Valentine War, Yzak is courtmartialed for his past war crimes, namely shooting down a civilian shuttle he had mistaken for escaping soldiers. He, as well as Dearka, are pardoned by the new Chairman of the Supreme Council and given back his command. Another war ensues, and Yzak and friends once again defect to join the Three Ships Alliance to protect both Earth and the PLANTs.

Headcanons/Personality
Yzak is pulled into the universe of The Playground two years after the ending of the series. He has been serving as a whitecoat commander in the military while also having been elected as a councilmember of the Supreme Court. He lives with his girlfriend and subordinate Shiho Hahnenfuss in a high-rise apartment in Aprilis One, the central hub of government in the PLANTs, with her two pets, Desert Tiger the pug and Martin DaCosta the bunny rabbit. His mother lives in the Joule Manor also located on Aprilis One, secretly wishing and plotting for a reason to force Yzak to marry Shiho. (She gets one when he later knocks up Shiho, who is determined to keep the baby no matter what happens to Yzak's public image.)

He is undoubtedly disgruntled and displeased at having been zapped out of his daily life, despite how hectic and demanding it may be. He misses his girlfriend tremendously and the sudden change in his sex life has him being more irritable than usual. Yzak has a nasty temper that he's learned to control for the most part, but it will rear it's ugly head when he's overly stressed or extremely pissed off. He has no patience for those who dwaddle or have no goal in life; he is a very focused workaholic, to the point where it may negatively affect his health.

Raised as a single child in a wealthy family (as much as a single mother and only child can be considered a family) and being in several positions of power, he is used to having his demands fulfilled and his whims catered to. Despite this, he is a relatively polite person and will mostly only sneer at others behind their back unless provoked. The setting of The Playground, Manhattan 2024, is actually a step back into the past for Yzak, and he will react accordingly to the "primitive technology" of the time.
